Ranch Dip Recipe ranch dip Party Ranch Dip Recipe ranch dip recipe

I used to love ranch-style dressings and dips until I read the ingredient label.  Ugh!  Unless it’s organic, I have yet to find a ranch dressing or dip mix that’s first or second ingredient is MSG, an ingredient that causes lots of problems.  (See excerpt from my book Freedom from Fibromyalgia: 7 Steps to Complete Recovery, “The Hidden Names of MSG.”)

I went to a party several years ago that had a version of this amazing ranch dip, and I got the recipe.  Now every time I serve it everyone always asks me for the recipe too.  This makes quite a bit, so it’s kind of a joke around here that we know there is going to be a party because I make this dip.  So due to popular demand here, for the world to see, my recipe.

Ingredients

1 container cottage cheese (about 1 pound)

1 container sour cream (about 1 pound)

½ Tablespoon garlic powder

½ teaespoon dried parsley

½ Tablespoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon celery seed

1 Tablespoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon unrefined sea salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon dried basil

Method

I prefer to use only organic ingredients.  In the case of spices I like Frontier brand because they are the only organic ones I know of that are not irradiated.  For the sour cream and cottage cheese, do not get low fat, and pasture-raised is preferred.

Place all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine.  Add the sour cream and cottage cheese and mix well.  You can store the dip in the empty sour cream and cottage cheese containers.  Place in the refrigerators at least eight hours or the day before you are planning on using.  Before serving stir to combine again.

If you want to make this ranch dip recipe with a little more kick, double the amount of garlic powder. This dip is fantastic served with raw veggies or chips.  Enjoy!
